RCA Connector for Subwoofer with Regular Speaker Wire Connections?
I have an Olevia 237V LCD HDTV that has an RCA jack (female) OUTPUT for a Subwoofer. Do I need to buy a powered subwoofer, or can I use the non-powered sub that I have from my former surround sound system? That subwoofer has the typical two-wire connection on it for the twisted and tipped wires. On the other end of that speaker wire, I want to put an RCA male plug on it, so that I can plug it into the jack on the tv.

I only want to add the (apparently) powered sub-woofer. My tv has awesome sound, just needs more bass. I have little need for surround sound anymore, that's why I wanted to use the sub-woofer from my old surround sound system.
I should be able to use an externally powered sub-woofer using input from the tv, correct? No other amplification should be needed.
I would recomend a powered sub but only with a good home theater system to boot. At a minimum you will need some form of amplifier, but overall a Home theater would be the way to go.
Several systems are out there that use 2.1 or 5.1 or 7.1 speakers and any of these would be a vast improvement over the quality of sound that you have. I would ask you to relay your expectations and the proper product recoemendation would be forthcomming. Right now it is a question of exactly what do YOU want?
